Price check log, 29 October 2026. Our Focusmate entry said the free tier covered “a limited number of sessions per week; exact limits not yet verified.” We checked the official site. Here is the number, the paid price, and what it means for how you use it.

What did we check, and where?

Focusmate’s home page, on 29 October 2026. Its FAQ answers “Is Focusmate free?” with: “Yes! Focusmate is completely free for up to three sessions per week. You do not need a credit card or other payment information to start using Focusmate.” It continues: “If you need more sessions, you can upgrade to Focusmate Plus anytime for unlimited sessions. It’s just $8 a month (billed yearly) or $12 a month (billed monthly).” The same page lists 25, 50 and 75 minute sessions.

This is a check of the official page, not a receipt. We have not bought Plus, so price honesty is still scored on terms as written.

What changed on this site?

  • The Focusmate review free-tier line now states the number: up to three sessions per week.
  • The price tracker shows Focusmate’s prices as checked on 2026-10-29.
  • A dated changelog line on the Focusmate review records the check.
  • No score moved. Focusmate stays at 79/100 and KEEP, with price honesty at 8/10.

Is three sessions a week enough?

For most people starting out, yes. Three 25 minute sessions is enough to cover deadline days, or a reading habit of three short sessions a week. The free tier is a real way to find out whether body doubling works for you, not a timed demo.

It stops being enough when sessions become your daily way of starting work. If you find yourself rationing them, that is the sign Plus might earn its price. See body doubling for reading for one way to use the free sessions, and Focusmate vs Flow Club if you are weighing a group format.

Yearly or monthly: which is cheaper?

Months you actually use PlusMonthly billing ($12 a month)Yearly billing ($8 a month, $96 a year)Cheaper
3$36$96Monthly
6$72$96Monthly
8$96$96Same
10$120$96Yearly
12$144$96Yearly

The yearly figure assumes the $8 a month is billed as one $96 payment, which is how “billed yearly” usually works; check the checkout screen. If there is a real chance you stop before month eight, monthly is cheaper. If you buy yearly, put the renewal date in your calendar the day you pay.

Why do we log price checks?

Because price honesty is one of the eight criteria in our rubric, and a price is a fact that drifts. Every check gets a date, and a correction gets a changelog line on the page it affects rather than a quiet edit. When the tracker says “Not yet measured”, it means we have not checked that number, and we would rather say so than guess.
